Scouts BSA Troop #71
About
Troop #71 Is On Go!
For over 50 years, Troop #71 remains one of the most active and energetic troops in Athens County! Through our partnership with our Chartered Organization, First United Methodist Church, Troop #71 works hard, utilizing youth leadership, adult leadership, and family involvement to accomplish the vision of Scouting to prepare "every eligible youth in America to become a responsible, participating citizen and leader who is guided by the Scout Oath and Law." We do this through by striving to accomplish the following objectives or "Aims of Scouting":
Character Development
Leadership Development
Citizenship Training
Personal Fitness
All boys in the community and surrounding areas, who have completed the fifth grade and are at least 10 years old, OR have earned the Arrow of Light Award (from Cub Scouting) and are at least 10 years old, OR are age 11 but have not reached age 18 are eligible to join Troop #71! Troop meetings occur weekly, on most Monday nights, at the First United Methodist Church in Athens, OH at 7:00 pm. We have lots of fun, serve others, and are constantly learning new skills! Once a month, we have an outdoor activity or field trip and in the summertime, we spend an entire week at summer camp! You name it, we do it . . . from camping to hiking, from biking to climbing, from chemistry to chess, from search and rescue to skateboarding . . . we are constantly on the go!!
