About
We support a number of ministry partners as we show God’s love in our community and around the world through giving and serving.
The Athens County Food Pantry provides supplemental or emergency food assistance to eligible Athens County residents who find themselves in need. Every 5th Sunday we collect a special offering (monetary and/or food staples) for the pantry. There are also opportunities to help transport, sort, and pack food bags.
Athens County Habitat for Humanity
We are proud to be part of the Faith Build Coalition, partnering with other churches in Athens County. Our partnership provides opportunities to serve on build sites, at the local ReStore, and various fundraising projects. For current opportunities, contact Jan Miller-Fox at jmillerf@gmail.com.
First UMC is proud to host the annual Good Works Walk which is a fund-raiser for the local Timothy House homeless shelter. Service opportunities: Serve at the Timothy House, participate in Kids Discovery Club, participate in Friday Night Life, Neighbors Helping Neighbors, Transformation Station, and Service Living.
United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR)
We partner with the United Methodist Committee on Relief to respond to emergencies and natural disasters around the globe. Opportunities include joining up with Volunteer in Mission teams, assembling school, health and baby kits for distribution, and contributing to disaster relief and other special offerings.
