The mission of the hospitality ministry at Athens First United Methodist is to provide a welcoming environment of love, acceptance, comfort, support, and care, for visitors, members, guests, and friends in order to enhance their worship experience, encourage fellowship, and help build a community of believers. Our Hospitality Ministry consists of Ushers, Greeters, and those in Food Service (meals & refreshments).
The Hospitality Ministry serves to reflect the love of Christ through expressions of gratitude, excitement, and enthusiasm, to:
Create an inviting environment during our services and special events that are:
Welcoming
Hospitable
Friendly
Organized
Disciplined
Create a sense of belonging by making sure every visitor, member, and guest feels special and welcome in our church home.
Decrease the amount of stress, anxiety, fear, and confusion for our visitors and guests.
Connection Café provides a time of food and fellowship so church members and guests can get to know each other better and enjoy each other's company. We offer free coffee, tea, water and snacks before and after both services on Sunday mornings in the Welcome Center.
Volunteers for this ministry choose one or more of the following tasks about once a month to:
get the coffee carafes ready and put out supplies,
bring in treats,
be hosts for our guests,
clean up afterwards
