Advent begins November 30th

​You are warmly invited to join us for a special series this Advent: "Under Wraps." Sunday morning worship takes place at 9 AM in the Chapel and 10:30 AM in the Sanctuary. Study groups around our Advent theme are available Sundays at 9 AM and 6:30 PM, as well as Thursdays at 12:15 PM. Contact the Church Office for more information! 593-3977

Giving Joy to the World - December 6th

Saturday, December 6, 1-5 PM at the Market on State Mall, 1002 E. State Street, Athens, sponsored by the Athens First United Methodist Church. Bring the family and learn about charitable organizations in our region and around the world and how you can give as part of your family’s holiday celebrations. No money will be collected at this event; make donations directly to the charity of your choice. While you browse the informative displays, enjoy live performances of seasonal music and children’s puppet theater (First UMC Chancel

Choir 1:15 pm; Athens Irish Dancers 2:00 pm; Children’s Puppet Theater 2:45 pm; Jeff Daubenmire, Pianist 3:00 pm; Area Soloists 3:15 pm; YOU in Yuletide Karaoke! 4:00). Come, and GIVE JOY TO THE WORLD this year!

One Church, 2 Worship Options

At First United Methodist, each Sunday morning worship experience offers a unique expression of faith.  At 9 a.m., the Heritage Worship service utilizes classic hymns and liturgies in the intimate setting of the Chapel. 

At 10:30 a.m., the New Traditions Worship in the Sanctuary includes a breadth of song and liturgy, and the Chancel and other choirs. The same Scripture-based message will be provided at both services. Join us Sunday morning to worship!
