logoJoin us for Sunday School - Sundays 9:30 - 10:15 a.m.

Classes are offered mid-September through mid-June for children age 3 through 4th grade and a Nursery is offered for infants and toddlers. We are currently using a rotational curriculum in which children through 4th grade experience the same Bible story or lesson at four different learning stations on four consecutive Sundays. The stations include art, storytelling, science and games. The children are led by various station leaders and nurtured by shepherds who provide consistency, familiarity and comfort.

Themes we will explore in 2008-09 include:

UNIT 1 - Creation

UNIT 2 - Abraham and Sarah

UNIT 3 - In the Manger

UNIT 4 - Love Your Enemies

UNIT 5 - Mary of Bethany Anoints Jesus (a Lenten Unit)

UNIT 6 - The Seven Helpers (a story from Acts)

Tween's Class - Children in the 5th and 6th grades have a class all their own, for this special time in their lives.  It meets in the Library on the 2nd floor and is currently using the Live It curriculum, which focuses on applying Christian principles to the everyday circumstances of life.

God's Great Adventure Mission Focus   Each school year the Sunday School children support a specific mission outreach program. The focus for 2007-08 was the United Methodist Children's Fund for Christian Mission. The children collected money throughout the school year in a variety of ways. At the end of the school year, the money was donated to the Children's fund and, from there, divided equally between six agencies serving children and families located in Brazil, Mongolia, Bethlehem, Mississippi, Kentucky and Virginia.

During 2008-09 the children will learn about and raise money for different missions at all levels: local, national, and international. In the fall, we plan to learn about Habitat for Humanity and Good Works and support the people involved and serving in those programs. In the spring, we plan to learn about mission teams going to New Orleans and then about our missionaries Herbert and Mary Zigbuo in Liberia.
